  • Never leave kids in cars
Kids suffer heatstroke and in some cases die after being left in hot cars. Registered nurse Phyllis Larimore says kids left in cars can suffer fatal hyperthermia in just minutes, even when the outside temperature is mild. She says a change in routine is often behind these tragedies.
    Telephone scam
There have been reports of a telephone scammer who calls and identifies himself as a representative of Xcel Energy attempting to collect on a missed payment. The caller says power will be disconnected in 45 minutes unless payment is made immediately. Xcel Energy does not conduct business in this way and customers in danger of having their power turned off will receive written notice from the company. If in doubt about your service, contact a Xcel customer representative.
