  • Both defendants who spray painted the Montevideo Middle School as well as private property in Dawson and Madison plead guilty to felony charges of criminal damage to property after Burton Alexander Nelson, 20, of Montevideo pleaded guilty Wednesday. Co-defendant Myles Daniel Hickman, 19, also of Montevideo, had already been charged.   Nelson and Hickman spray painted inside Montevideo Middle School and on a baseball field, elevator, and apartment buildings in Dawson and Madison. In some cases they painted the word "Brush" spelled "Bru$h."   Video surveillance in the Middle School and snap chat/instagram pictures with spray paint cans led police to arrest the two. The defendants now must pay $4.610.88 restitution costs and $500 in fines. Both will also serve supervised probation for three years.
