The food and drink tents were wonderful, featuring pizza and grilled hot dogs and burgers, but also came in handy during the quick but drenching rain that had rodeo fans huddling together to stay dry. The raining and pouring lasted for a short while (distinctly ending with a woman in the tent I was huddled under pointing and yelling at the heavens “I see blue sky!”), allowing everyone to get back to their spots in the bleachers. By the time the rodeo commenced with a round of mutton busting, the stands were filled.

The rodeo proved a fine show case for the city of Maynard, which had its fire department providing security and local sponsors like Moldy’s Bar represented well by the entertainment of its hometown .
