The popular a capella vocal group Tonic Sol Fa will be visiting the area and performing in Montevideo on Sept. 27. The group has performed in Montevideo only once before, around when they started back in the late 1990s.

“We’re looking forward to having them here. It’s been a very long time since they’ve been in Montevideo,” said Ruth Ann Lee, owner of the Hollywood. “A lot of people remember what a good show they put on.”

The group originated in 1995 and consists of four members. Greg Bannwarth of Woodbury performs tenor and vocal percussion, and Shaun Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD sings lead vocals. Jared Dove resides in south St. Paul and is the bass vocalist of the group, and Theo Brown of Richfield is the newest member of Tonic Sol Fa, and is an accomplished piano player.

According to the group, although they perform mainly a capella music, they have experimented with some piano as well.
