The Montevideo Gold Dusters finished third in high kick and fourth in jazz in the West Central Conference competition at Albany last Thursday.

The top three teams in high kick were Yellow Medicine East, Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd and Montevideo.

YME also won the jazz competition, followed by LqPVDB and BOLD.

Seven Gold Dusters earned all-conference honors. Olivia Bisel, Kayla Collins, Whitney Bartz and Shawna Berg were all-conference in high kick, with Nettie Duvall receiving honorable mention recognition.

Named all-conference in jazz were Hannah Hein, Macy Peters and Anna Melby. Berg was voted honorable mention.

“The girls danced well Thursday night and we were very pleased to place so well in both jazz and high kick,” said coach Sharon Forde.

The Gold Dusters will perform at Holy Family High School in Victoria on Saturday for Section 3AA competition. Jazz competition will begin at noon.

Forde says Marshall is the favorite, with several teams contending for the other two spots in the state meet.
