George Rysdahl received an award Tuesday, April 18, as an "EXTRA-ordinary Lion." Clarkfield Lions Club President Doug Clevenger presented the award to Rysdahl on behalf of District Governor Larry Muenchow in recognition of outstanding service. Rysdahl, who first joined Lions Club in 1963, is still active despite health challenges. Currently he is leading a renovation of the playground equipment at the old Clarkfield School, which he helped install decades ago as a member of the Lions Club. The playground renovation is a centennial project by the Clarkfield Lions Club marking the 100th anniversary of the Lions Club, which was founded in Chicago in 1917. Rysdahl has spread pea gravel on the site all by himself and will be helping to repair the fence and boundary boards.
