The 72nd Annual Fiesta Days turned out to be a  memorable and rousing success. For the most part, the weather was perfect for this year’s celebration with sunny skies, comfortable temperatures and low humidity for most of the week.

The week-long celebration began with a somewhat stormy start on Sunday, June 11. Severe thunderstorms rolled through the area early in the morning and caused the postponement of the Fiesta Motorcycle and Car Show. The Fiesta Fly-in Breakfast took place as scheduled at the Montevideo Airport, with a good turnout for the pancake breakfast.

On Monday, the annual book sale kicked off at the Montevideo Public Library, and the Fiesta Ambassadors and candidates attended the Business After Hours event at the American Legion.

A couple of special children’s events were held on tuesday. Summertime Story and Crafts was held at Java River, and a Lego Challenge for grades 1-5 was held at the library.

Wednesday was a big day as the Fiesta Days Senior Ambassador coronation and Dance was held at the Montevideo Community Center. Bob and Judy Ronning were crowned as 2018 Senior Ambassadors.
