As part of the Phase #A Clay Levee  Construction project, the city of Montevideo approved an agreement with the state of Minnesota to provide for levee maintenance at the intersection of highways 212 and 29.

The agreement allows the city to perform the planned Phase 3A levee relocation and construction. Design for the project was done by the Corps of Engineers and consists of building an earthen flood control structure on state right of way.

A resolution authorizing the agreement between the state and the city was discussed and adopted.

In other business at the council’s regular meeting on Monday evening, three items were considered on the consent agenda.

The council considered and approved verified claims in the amount of $759,373.53. The largest part of that was due to $562,954.65 in General Obligation Bonds.

Also considered were two applications for exemption from lawful gambling license requirements.

One application was from the Two Rivers chapter of the Minn. Deer Hunters Association to allow raffle activity at the VFW on Feb. 24, 2018.

The other application was from the Church of St. Joseph for bingo and raffle activities at the church in conjunction with their Fall Festival event on Sept. 17, 2017.

All items on the consent agenda were approved.
