The Sons of the American Legion, along with the American Legion Riders, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the members of the American Legion have a announced plans to build a veterans memorial in Montevideo.

The Sons of the American Legion, along with the American Legion Riders, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the members of the American Legion have a announced plans to build a veterans memorial in Montevideo.

The proposed memorial will be built on a parcel of land that is located directly north of the Pizza Ranch and bordered by Hwy. 7 and 17th St. to the east.

Everett Bain, Commander of the Sons of the American Legion, and Paul Rice, co-director of the montevideo American Legion Riders, officially presented their proposal to the Montevideo city council at their July 17  regular meeting.

Bain and Rice requested that the city formally dedicate/donate the land and that the city assist in the proper surveyance of the property. The council endorsed the proposal and voted unanimously to work closely with the various organizations involved.
