On Monday evening, the Montevideo City Council discussed the proposed budget and levy for 2018. Jan Flaherty gave the presentation.

The levy for the General Fund for 2018 is proposed to increase by $37,000 to a total of $1,273,000, which is a 3 percent change. The total levy for operating purposes is $1,379,350. The total debt  levy for 2018 is $873,600.

The total levy  proposed for 2018 is $2,252,950, which is an increase of $64,650, which is a 2.95 percent increase for 2018

The proposed 2018 budget for all funds has total revenues of $12,797,355 and total expenditures of $12,513,405.

The General Fund is the operational fund of the city. It includes administration, police, fire, street and park, cemetery, street lights, senior citizen and community development revenues and expenditures.The proposed general fund revenues for 2018 total $4,333,900.

Local Government Aid, which is received from the state, will increase $70,000 to a total of $2,106,681. This is a 3.4 percent increase and accounts for 48.6 percent of the general fund revenues.
