This year, Mesothelioma Awareness Day will be held on Sept. 26. It is the day that the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance, along with other organizations, raise awareness about the dangers of asbestos and mesothelioma cancer.
The Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance has been promoting the dangers of asbestos and how it leads to mesothelioma for over 10 years. They will rally along with other awareness efforts across the country next Tuesday to prevent future outbreaks of this preventable disease.
Asbestos is a mineral that was once used throughout the construction industry, and is present in nearly 80% of schools, public buildings, and homes built before 1980. It was known and used for its resistance to fire and most chemicals.
Asbestos is linked to several diseases, including mesothelioma and asbestosis.
