Stained glass artist Karl Unnasch was in Monte­video on Tuesday to install his stained glass artwork on the Montevideo Art Project’s art tractor project located at the south end of 1st Street.

Stained glass artist Karl Unnasch was in Monte­video on Tuesday to install his stained glass artwork on the Montevideo Art Project’s art tractor project located at the south end of 1st Street.

The rusty old McCormick-Deering tractor has now been transformed into a beautiful work of public art. The intricate stained glass panels invite study to seek find the many images contained in them.

Unnasch is an internationally renowned stained glass artist whose public art works are on display throughout the U.S. and Canada.

For this particular project, he drew inspiration from the Minnesota’s history, agriculture, and wildlife. “Being a Minnesotan, I can tie into the memes and themes that are positively pervasive to our state. They’re inherent in our history and culture,” he said.
