On Nov. 12, the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received a traffic report of a semi-truck transporting liquid manure and rolling over on County Road 13, east of County Road 5, when the driver swerved to avoid a deer. The vehicle rolled and spilled approximately 4,000 gallons of liquid manure into the ditch.

The driver later stated that while he was traveling east, he swerved to avoid a collision with a deer, drove off the road into the south ditch, drove back onto the road and then back in the ditch. The driver then exited the vehicle on his own and walked across the roadway awaiting law enforcement to arrive.

The driver was transported to the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, where he was then transferred to North Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
