Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital interim CEO Chuck Bruhn spoke to the city council during their regular meeting on Tuesday.  Bruhn updated the council on various changes that have been made to address issues at the hospital.

“One of the things that the hospital has worked on was to deal with a nursing culture that people felt needed to change. We changed the director of nursing. We also implemented a program where we issued standards of behavior and also looked at our core values. All of our employees signed a commitment to those things, which was a huge change for us,” said Bruhn.

Another change that was made was in regards to streamlining positions. “At this point,” Bruhn said, “we’ve eliminated thirteen agency positions. There were  very, very many agency nurses with the organization, and that just didn’t provide the stability and continuity that our patients needed, and our physicians and community deserved.
