Long-time Montevideo police Department officer Jeff Eickhoff was honored at Monday evening’s city council meeting for 20 years of service to the community. Eickhoff was hired on Jan. 26, 1998.

Long-time Montevideo police Department officer Jeff Eickhoff was honored at Monday evening’s city council meeting for 20 years of service to the community. Eickhoff was hired on Jan. 26, 1998.

Mayor Debra Lee Fader thanked Eickhoff for his service as sh presented him with a 20-year Employee Service Award certificate. Eickhoff was also granted an additional day off to be used within six months in accordance with city Administrative Code language.

In other business, there were two items on the consent agenda. The council considered the approval of verified claims in the amount of $292,897.51.

Also considered was a request from Emily Lemke/Willy’s Wish to use a portion of Smith Park and various streets and bike trails for Willy’s Wish 5k Fun Run. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 16, 2018 and proceeds from the event would go toward care baskets for local hospitals.
