For the second time in the space of a week, much of Minnesota dealt with the effects of a powerful winter storm. Mild temperatures during the past week had nearly melted all of the snow from the previous week’s storm, when this week’s storm hit hard late Sunday and into Monday.
Officially, 6.5 inches of heavy, wet snow were reported at KDMA, with similar amounts reported throughout the area.
A mixed bag of precipitation began moving into the area during the overnight hours of Sunday and into Monday morning. Rain, freezing rain, and sleet were reported as the huge storm system tracked north-northwest across Minnesota. Peals of thunder were heard early Monday morning.
