The flags by City Hall are a beautiful sight, and they give us reason to pause and give God thanks for all who are serving our country, as well as those who have served in the past. We are blessed.

Donations of 5’x8’ polyester flags are needed for the project, which was started in 1982 by the VFW and American Legion Posts and Auxiliaries. The casket flags that have been donated by families of veterans have become frayed and discolored, and have been disposed of according to proper flag etiquette.

“My late husband, Denny Enevoldsen, respected God, our flag, and our military, which included his once senior officer, Duane Marholz. What a good way to remember and honor them both,” stated Enevoldsen.

Ron Janke can be contacted at (320) 269-5053 if you wish to donate a flag in memory or honor of a veteran. The cost of the flag is $36.39 per flag. There are currently 50 flags flown on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fiesta Week, the 4th of July, Labor Day and Veterans Day.
