Safe Avenues and MN West Community & Technical College have partnered to bring the nationally acclaimed documentary “Audrie & Daisy” for a free showing on April 9 from 5:30-8:00 pm. The event is being held in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness month.

The film takes an honest look at the culture of sexual assault in high school and the increasing role that social media plays in magnifying the crime. The event is free to the public and there is no registration required.

Following the film, held in the MN West Campus in the AG Bush Building – Student Commons Cafeteria, a facilitated discussion will take place with a panel of local experts. Topics will include recognizing a culture of sexual violence, how to help a victim or survivor of sexual assault, and what you can do as a parent to help your student.

Additional awareness efforts throughout the month include public service announcements and informational displays on sexual assault at area libraries, hospitals, court houses, and health and human services locations.
