A public open house is scheduled for April 10th beginning at 6:30 p.m. to discuss Timm Lake in Yellow Medicine County (Twp. 113N, R 39W, Section 34). The open house will be held at the Wood Lake Community Center and will include a brief overview presentation by DNR staff along with opportunities to review and comment on a draft management plan for the lake as well as preliminary design drawings for a water control structure.

Timm Lake is a 260-acre shallow lake with average depths around 3.0 feet and a maximum depth of only 4.0 feet. Habitat and water quality conditions in Timm Lake have deteriorated in recent years and The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Section of Wildlife is interested in investigating management options to improve the lake. The DNR wishes to work with local residents and ditch representatives to replace an existing dam structure on JD 10 with a newly designed water control structure. The proposed structure would allow for periodic water level drawdown based on a joint comprehensive management plan.
