Remidios Martinez, 43, of Montevideo, made his first appearance Monday in Chippewa County Court on two charges of felony criminal sexual conduct and two felony charges of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree.

The criminal complaint alleges that Martinez forced a female child under 13 years of age to perform oral sex on him, attempted vaginal intercourse with her, and touched her on a number of occasions over the past few months.

During an interview with a Montevideo police officer on Wed., March 28, Martinez denied the accusations.

Martinez posted a $30,000 bail bond with conditions following a bail hearing on March 29. Some of the interim conditions for Martinez’s release on bond include: do not enter victim’s residence, complete booking, do not leave Minnesota without written court approval, do not ship/transport/possess or receive firearms or ammo, keep court/attorney informed of current address, no contact with victim(s), police escort to enter premises, remain law abiding, make all future court appearances, make and maintain contact with an attorney, do not enter bars or liquor stores and abstain from use or possession of alcohol and non-prescribed drugs.

A settlement conference for Martinez has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 30, 2018 at the Courthouse in Montevideo.
