Mayor Debra Lee Fader recently attended the 2018 MN Mayor’s Association Convention, which was held during the last weekend of April in Perham.

The MMA stems from the League of Minnesota Cities, which assists with many issues in governance throughout the year and affects over 800 Minnesota cities.

A conference is facilitated annually through the League for the MMA. At this function, there is a business meeting to pass a new agenda and elect new officers to the MMA Executive Board. The Board’s main function is to preside over the League policy in regards to Minnesota Mayors. In addition, officers of the Minnesota Mayors Executive Board attend meetings with the Minnesota Regional Mayors Board, and reach out to the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul to keep them informed about the leadership goals of the League of Minnesota Cities.

Fader was elected to the board as a secretary in 2017. This year, she was elected as 4th Vice President, meaning in four years, if Fader is still Mayor of Montevideo, she will be president of the MMA. As president, her duty would then be to plan and host the Mayor’s Convention in the Montevideo area.
