This year marks the 100th anniversary of Olsen Plumbing and Heating here in Montevideo. The business was opened 1918 by H.J. Olsen who originally operated the business out of his home; his first project was the plumbing for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

The business was purchased in 1947 by Bob and James “Dugie” Olsen who operated out of their home, along with several storage areas around town. In 1952, Dugie and his wife Audrey began operating the business on their own, and moved the company to its current location in 1977.

In 1980, Kenny Olsen and his wife Janice became partial owners to the business, and a few years later, Dugie left the company. Kenny owned and operated it until 2002 when he, along with current owner Rick and his wife Donna Christenson, began operating together.

Kenny retired in 2013, and Rick has operated it since.

Olsen Plumbing welcomed partners Breanna Olson and Chad Listul to the team in January. They are excited to serve the community and strive to keep the company around for another 100 years.

Including Breanna, Chad and Rick, the business currently has eight full-time employees and one part-time employee.

Rick Mitchell joined Olsen Plumbing in 1972 and works mainly on plumbing-related projects.

Rick Christenson joined the team in 1990 and works with plumbing and HVAC systems.

Chad Listul began working at Olsen Plumbing in 2009 and works on HVAC and plumbing projects.
