Matthew Eric Dolven, 29, of Montevideo, is facing seven counts of felony charges of child pornography after he sent photos of a 3-year-old-girl to an undercover FBI agent.

Dolven was charged with possession of pornographic works involving a minor, second-degree criminal conduct, and five counts of disseminating pornographic works involving minors.

Dolven was communicating with, unknown to him at the time, an undercover FBI agent over an instant messaging app. On June 27 he admitted he had touched the child in the past and had also sent several naked and closeup photos of the girl.

A Montevideo Police Officer observed the communications between Dolven and the agent, and saw that the interaction was ongoing throughout the day and included texts from Dolven about touching and taking photographs of the girl.

The IP address obtained by the agent showed Dolven’s residence in Montevideo.

Dolven was taken into custody on the morning of June 28 when FBI agents arrived in Montevideo, law enforcement arrived at his residence and a search warrant was executed.

Computers, phones, electronic storage devices and marijuana pipes were seized during the search.

When brought to the Montevideo Police Department and asked if he knew why officers were searching his house and speaking with him, Dolven allegedly said he was pretty sure it was for having pictures of underage children.

Dolven also allegedly said he touched the girl and took photographs and videos of the child while she was sleeping and exchanged them online.

Dolven appeared in Chippewa County District Court for a bail hearing. Bail was set at $250,000 with no conditions or $200,000 with conditions. His next court hearing is at 1 p.m. on July 9.
