This summer, the Ramsey Elementary School was able to purchase and install new additions to their playground equipment.

Over the last five years, the school has been collecting funds through the Chip Shoppe fundraiser. Since the initial fundraiser, the school has raised about $25,000.

“We want to install about four or five pieces overall,” said Bill Sprung, principal of Ramsey Elementary. “We just installed two new climbing pieces, and we would like to get some sandboxes and soccer goals put in as well before school begins.”

This was just phase one of a multi stage process.

“We decided not to wait until we had all the money, but let children enjoy and use part of it now,” said Karinda Groothuis, teacher at Ramsey and one of the volunteers who helped make this happen. “We are hoping the excitement of a new playground will generate donations for the phase two component.”
