During Tuesday’s Lac qui Parle County Board meeting, Lac qui Parle County Veterans Service Officer Josh Beninga presented a request from the Montevideo Veterans Home Committee for Lac qui Parle County to re-pledge their $50,000, which is required to be paid to the city of Montevideo by Nov. 1, 2018.

The Commissioners agreed to pay the committed pledge, but had concerns regarding the timeline of the project and potential interest accumulated if the plan falls through. They were also unaware of the deadline; however, in order for construction to begin all pledged funds are required to be in an escrow account.

The board stated that they would like to see a deadline for construction to ensure the money isn’t sitting in an account for an undetermined amount of time, and would also like to establish an interest rate in the event the money would be returned.
