The Hawk Creek Watershed Project will be holding a Reduced Tillage and Cover Crops Field Day on Friday, Sept. 14., from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration for the event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Renville Community Center at 221 Main St. N. in Renville.

Coffee and rolls will be served at that time, after which attendees can board buses which will take them to local farms that are implementing cover crops and no-till/strip till.

Those attending will have the opportunity to learn about the use of cover crops in a corn/soybean rotation, inter-seeding cover crops early in the growing season, seeding after early harvest crops (small grain, canning, silage), and realizing the added benefits of cover crops with livestock and grazing.

Following the tours of local farms, a free lunch will be provided to those who pre-registered. If interested in attending this event, the organizers ask that you please R.S.V.P.  by Friday, Sept. 7 by calling the Hawk Creek Watershed Project at 320-523-3666, or by emailing heidi@hawkcreekwatershed.org.
