In a surprising turn of events, current Montevideo Mayor Debra Lee Fader announced on Tuesday that she is officially withdrawing from the race for mayor. Fader is completing her second 4-year term as mayor, and was campaigning against former Montevideo Mayor Jim Curtiss.

Fader cited personal reasons for her decision. “I will become a permanent resident of Glenwood in 2019,” said Fader.

After having recently sold the Sportsmen’s Inn, which her husband and she owned, Fader began an unsuccessful search for a place to live in Montevideo.

“There simply wasn’t anything available,” she said.
