The Chippewa County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. at the Courthouse in Montevideo.

The Chippewa County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. at the Courthouse in Montevideo.

Drainage Inspector Josh Macziewski presented a request from the city of Montevideo to use the county’s tractor boom mower for the rest of the season. A motion was made to allow the city to use the mower under guidance from the drainage department, and the motion was approved.

The drainage inspector next updated the board regarding a noxious weed complaint in Section 23 of Havelock Township. The board discussed noxious weed ordinance enforcement, and directed the inspector to send a letter to property owners regarding a review of their property and enforcement for 2019.

County Attorney David Gilbertson provided a report to the board of the activities in his office during Aug. 2018.

Following Gilbertson’s report, each commissioner gave a report on the various committee meetings that they attended and discussed special events that occurred during Aug. 2018.

Auditor/Treasurer Michelle May also reported on the activities of her department during the month of Aug. 2018.

Following May, Sheriff Stacey Tufto next met before the board to report on the activities of the sheriff’s office during the month of August.

Following the agenda, Tufto requested the purchase of dispatch furniture for a price of $48,000. After discussion, a motion was made to accept the request, and it was approved.

In other business, some items were approved on the consent agenda.
