With Veterans Day falling on a Sunday this year, the Montevideo Veterans Day Programs will be held tomorrow (Friday) at the Montevideo Middle School and the Montevideo High School.

The Veterans Day Program at the middle school begins at 9 a.m. The MMS seventh grade band will be performing a number of patriotic selections, and a number of essays written by sixth grade English students will be read.

Commander Marvin Garbe of American Legion Post 59 will give the keynote address.

After the program, all veterans are invited to the MMS Commons for coffee and treats.

Then, at 11 a.m., a Veterans Day Program will be held at the high school.

The Montevideo Senior High School Band under the direction of Matt Bauer, and the Montevideo High School Choir under the direction of Dan Hampton, will be performing. Also performing will be the Chord-Ayres, who will sing several patriotic songs.

Guest speakers include  VFW Commander SSG Derrick A. Kvendru and Robyn Enevoldsen representing the VFW Auxiliary.

After the program, the VFW Auxiliary will provide lunch at the VFW, beginning at noon.

The public is welcome, and encouraged, to attend these Veterans Day Programs to honor and thank all of our veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
