The Chippewa/Lac qui Parle Hippology team of Morgan Johnson, Abby Spence, Caleb Johnson and Cassandra Jibben competed at the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio on October 16, 2018.

The Chippewa/Lac qui Parle Hippology team of Morgan Johnson, Abby Spence, Caleb Johnson and Cassandra Jibben competed at the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio on October 16, 2018.  Their team placed 2nd overall out of 17 teams from across the nation. Everyone on the team received individual honors as follows:

Abby Spence:

4th place on exam

4th place in stations

4th place overall

Morgan Johnson:

6th place on exam

5th place in stations

5th place overall

Caleb Johnson:

6th place in stations

6th place overall

Cassandra Jibben:

7th place in judging

As a team they placed 2nd on the exam, 2nd in stations, 6th in judging and 3rd on the team problem, which earned them 2nd place overall honors.

Hippology is a contest that tests a team’s horse knowledge in four areas.  All individuals take a 100 question test on their horse knowledge. In the stations phase individuals identify different items related to horses such as poisonous plants, bones, breeds etc.  For the judging phase individuals judge four classes of horses. As a team they present a solution to two team problems. They are placed individually and as a team.
