There will be a special meeting about the Montevideo Area Veterans Home on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the American Legion Post 59 in Montevideo. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and the Veterans Home Committee Chairman Post 59 Commander Marvin Garbe said: “There will be a major announcement affecting the Veterans Home, and major TV networks will be present.” Garbe gave no hint at what the announcement will be.

Following the announcement at 11 a.m., the Wold/Perkins/Eastman Architectural Firm will make a presentation on the design of the Veterans Home. Representatives of the company have been meeting with the Veterans Home Committee for input on the design, and the design will be available for review by veterans and stakeholders. “Veteran input will be requested at that time to discuss any changes in design as to how it will best serve our veterans,” said Garbe.

State Representative Tim Miller and State Senator Andrew Lang, who were instrumental in bringing the Veterans Home to Montevideo, will be in attendance at the meeting.

All area veterans, major stakeholders, and members of the public are invited to attend this very special event. Garbe is very grateful to all who worked on the Veterans Home Project. “Thank you for all your support these many years; it is now going to be a reality,” he said.
