This morning a Montevideo Business received an email proporting to be from the Better Business Bureau "alerting" them to a complaint from a customer. The subject line was: Better Business Bureau service. It offered a link that they could click to review the "complaint". They did not click on it fearing it was a scam and that the link contained a virus. They tried to forward the email to the Montevideo Area Chamber of Commerce so that they could make others aware, but it came back rejected because of a virus. The business has printed this email and mailed it to the real Council of Better Business Bureaus so they can alert their members.
As always, be careful when opening e-mails especially from unknown senders. There are many free virus protection programs available online if you do not already have one installed on your computer. Should you get an e-mail similar to the one described in this story, report it to the Council of Better Business Bureaus so that they can take action.
