The Montevideo Legion baseball team hosted a tournament this past weekend, winning two of three games to place third.

The Montevideo Legion baseball team hosted a tournament this past weekend, winning two of three games to place third. Teams from Sacred Heart/MACCRAY, Big Stone City, Redwood Falls, Breckenridge, New London/Spicer, Dakota Valley, Glenwood, and Eden Valley Watkins participated in the two day Montevideo Tournament.

Big Stone won the tournament with a 4-3 win over Dakota Valley on Sunday.

Monte opened the tournament with a 6-0 shutout of Sacred Heart/MACCRAY. Montevideo starting pitcher Christian Kanten pitched a nearly flawless game as he gave up only two hits while striking out eight batters and giving up no walks.

Seth Kuno went 3-for-3 at the plate with a single, a pair of doubles, and two RBIs to lead the offense for Monte.
