The Montevideo Thunder Hawks girls basketball team hosted the Minnewaska Area Lakers last Thursday. The Lakers beat the Thunder Hawks by a score of 63-41 Points were hard to come by for both teams in the early part of the first half. The Thunder Hawks did manage to build a small lead before the Lakers nailed some three-pointers to catch up and eventually pull away for a 32-15 halftime lead.
Monte’s offense fared better in the second half, scoring 26 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lakers lead.
The Thunder Hawks were led in scoring by Jasmyn Kronback with eight points, and Sydney Zindel with seven points. Livia Gades made two three-pointers for Monte.
Lakers 63, Monte 41
On Tuesday evening, the girls hosted the undefeated Sauk Centre Mainstreeters. Sauk Centre dominated the Thunder Hawks from the opening jump on both offense and defense and came away with a 81-31 win.
