The Montevideo Thunder Hawks boys track team won a closely contested Section 5A True Team track meet at Minnewaska on Tuesday.

The boys edged a strong Holdingford team by a score of 660.5 to 647.5 to earn the victory. The team will compete in the State True Team meet on Saturday May 19, at Stillwater High School.

Individually for the boys, Josh Tastad placed first in the 1600 run and Thomas O’Malley won the discus.

Monte’s 4x200 relay and  4x400 relay teams won their events.

The key to the Thunder Hawks victory was their consistency in finishing near the top of their events.

The Thunder Hawks girls finished in sixth place overall, and even though they didn’t have any individual event winners, many of the younger girls had impressive showings in their events. The 4x200 relay team won their event.
