The season came to an end for the Montevideo wrestling team in the Section 3AA individual tournament at Worthington Friday and Saturday.
“It was a tough tournament as always, arguably one of the toughest in the state,” said Montevideo coach Ron Reszel. “Our guys wrestled hard and had individual successes even if they did not make the podium.”
Montevideo wrestlers ran into tough draws in the early rounds, losing seven matches to opponents who were seeded either first or second in their weight classes.
The best finishes by Montevideo wrestlers were a fourth by senior Isaac Sulflow at 152 pounds and a fifth by eighth-grader Mitch Kwilinski at 119.
