For the second straight season, the Montevideo wrestling team was eliminated from the Section 3AA wrestling tournament by Marshall/Lakeview.
After doing well in the lighter weights and taking a 24-17 lead, the Thunder Hawks lost the final seven matches as the Tigers advanced with a 59-24 win Tuesday at Marshall.
Marshall/Lakeview was beaten 66-9 in the semifinals by Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley, the No. 1 seed in the North half of Section 3AA.
Spencer Sulflow and Jake Bednar staked Montevideo to a 12-0 lead.
Sulflow took an 11-7 lead into the third period before pinning his 103-pound opponent.
Bednar dominated his 112-pound foe, taking a 13-0 lead in the first period before notching a pin 41 seconds into the second period.
After Marshall won the next three matches for a 17-12 lead, Justin Mortenson scored a pin with just 10 seconds elapsed in the second period of his 135-pound match.
Thomas Stoeckman was awarded a forfeit at 140, but it would be the last win for the Thunder Hawks.

T-Hawks top MACCRAY
Montevideo defeated MACCRAY 51-24 and lost 56-18 to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in a rescheduled triangular at Tracy Thursday.
Spencer Sulfow, Jake Bednar and Isaac Sulflow were victorious in both of their matches for the Thunder Hawks.
Also getting wins against MACCRAY were Mitch Kwilinski, Austin Hiepler, Mason Kwilinski, Justin Mortenson, Joe Bednar, Cody Hiepler and Colton Anderson.
The T-Hawks finished seventh in an individual tourney at Albany Friday.
Joe Bednar had Montevideo’s best showing, finishing third at 140 pounds.
Finishing fifth were Mitch Kwilinski, Austin Hiepler, Mason Kwilinski, Cody Heipler, Jordan Welling and Jordan Solting.
The Section 3AA individual tourney will be Feb. 26-27 at Worthington.
