Heading into the final night of the racing season Friday at Fiesta City Speedway, season points standings are extremely close in three of the six classes.
There were 79 cars in the pits for Friday’s races.
In the Pure Stock class, Ross Bjerkeset leads Maria Konold by five points. Dustin Zieske leads Dean Larson by just two points in the WISSOTA Mod IV standings, and Marshal Tofte has a three-point lead over Matt Suckow in the WISSOTA Midwest Mod division.
Kyle Jacobson of Clarkfield held off Ross Bjerkeset of Clarkfield for his first Pure Stock feature win. Maria Konold of Clear Lake, S.D., was third.
Tim Kanten of Milan took the lead to begin the WISSOTA Mod IV feature. Dean Larson of Pennock took the lead on lap 7 and went on to win his second feature of the season. Kanten was second and Dustin Zieske of Willmar third.
Kelly Timm of Hanley Falls led all 20 laps of the WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Ben Albertson of Clarkfield finished second and Travis Berends of Montevideo was third.
In the annual appearance of the Vintage Cars, Curt Schuur of Chandler took the lead to start the feature. Jason Anderson of Canby took the lead three laps into the race. Wayne Oftedahl of Hanley Falls took the lead with seven laps to go and went on to put his 1969 Ford Mustang into victory lane. Mick Bliese of Gettysburg, S.D., was second, with Dave Holmgren Jr., of Amor in third place.
Bob Holtquist of Milbank, S.D., led the first lap of the WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Cory Tammen of Clara City took the lead on the next lap and went on to win his sixth feature of the season. Mike Jans of Clarkfield was second and Holtquist third.
Bill Dack of Montevideo led the opening lap of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Troy Berends of Montevideo took the lead from Dack on the very next lap. Marshal Tofte of Madison grabbed the lead on lap 7 on went on to win his third feature of the year second in a row. Brian Haben of Holloway finished second and Matt Suckow of Appleton was third.
Damin Eilers of Canby took the lead to start the WISSOTA Late Model feature. Don Shaw of Ham Lake took the lead five laps into the race. Corey Nelson of Canby took the lead from Shaw with five laps to go and pulled away from the field for his first win of the season. Shaw was second amd Eilers third.
Friday’s races will be sponsored by Team J&D Construction. Heat races start at 7 p.m.
