The Montevideo boys basketball team improved their record to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in the West Central Conference South with conference wins over Lac qui Parle Valley and ACGC the past week.
The Thunder Hawks will face tough non-conference competition at Redwood Valley today (Thursday) and against Windom Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. The boys varsity game starts at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity girls game. The T-Hawks figure to have their toughest conference game to date when they play host to Morris/Chokio-Alberta on Tuesday.

Senior guard Phillip Ward scored a career-high 24 points, going 7-for-8 from three-point range as the Thunder Hawks downed the visiting Eagles on Friday.
The Eagles’ efforts to slow the pace of the game were foiled as Montevideo jumped out to leads of 13-0 and 23-2. Ward hit his first four attempts from three-point range during seven minutes.
Colton Vien added a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Brett Bergeson and Jake Douglas also scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Eric Smith had 11 points for the Eagles, who fell to 2-10 on the season and 0-5 in the conference.

Colton Vien led Montevideo in scoring with 22 points. Jake Douglas had a double-double with 20 and 10 rebounds and he is now just 12 points away from scoring his 1,000th career point. Brett Bergeson added 11 points for the T-Hawks, who shot 59 percent from the field.
