A staple of my time in journalism is apparently attending the Minnesota’s Machinery Museum annual meeting. In all of my history in newspapers around the area, the one event that I have attended each year that I was involved in newspapers has been this particular meeting.

Koenen scores at YME track meet

Last Thursday, the Thunder Hawks boys and girls track teams traveled to a multi-school track meet at Yellow Medicine East in Granite Falls. The girls team claimed the 7th place spot with an overall score of 42, while the boys team claimed the second-place spot with an overall score of 95.5.

EDA receives study on historic Chippewa Bank building

The Montevideo Economic Development Authority received a report at their meeting last week outlining what the needs and costs are projected to be to repair the historic Chippewa County Bank building. The building condition assessment was completed by the architecture firm Engan Associates after the City solicited the study with funds from a USDA grant.

Jacquelyn Williams

Jacquelyn Williams, 85, of Montevideo passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Rosewood Assisted Living in Montevideo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment will be held at the church cemetery.

Louise “Beth” Zinda

Louise “Beth” Zinda, 74, of Appleton, formerly of the Big Bend area, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, in Appleton Area Health-Care Center. Visitation was noon - 1 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Pastor Kristine Isder officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Dorraine Thompson

Dorraine Thompson of Montevideo died on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Home Front First in Montevideo at the age of 85. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11 a.m.

Adelaine Lageson

Adelaine Lageson of Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of Montevideo, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Hamlin Place in Lake Worth at the age of 94. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 2 p.m.

Alan Hanna of Dighton, Kan. died on February 10, 2022 at St.
