Last Tuesday, the Thunder Hawks baseball team played a home game against BOLD for a 17-7 victory. Leaders in that game included Luke Kuno who was 4-for-5 with a home run and six RBI. Complete scoring follows:
Friday evening, the 29th annual Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties American Cancer Society Relay for Life event was held at Smith Park in Montevideo. The event began with a performance by the community band, while guests were able to visit vendor booths, enjoy a meal and sign up for the split-thepot. Luminaries were set about the path through the park, and one section was designated as a “survivors garden”, featuring photographs and paper flowers with the survivors names.
Naomi J. Herrlich, 78, of Brainerd passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at home in Brainerd on May 21, 2022. A Memorial Service for Naomi will be held on Thursday May 26, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd. There will be a visitation for friends and family beginning at 11:30 a.m. The service will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Gloria Johnson, 95, of Montevideo passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Luther Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Visitation was held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Arrangements were with Wing-Bain Funeral Home.
Earl Norman, Montevideo, died on Friday, April 8, 2022 at his home at the age of 78. Memorial graveside services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 2 p.m.
Dear Editor, Minnesota drivers have faced record-high gas prices in the last few months. But like many of today’s most pressing challenges, Minnesota’s farmers and agricultural industry hold the key to helping solve them.
Through no fault of my own, it has come to my attention that May is Older American Month. This gave me pause. Let me see if I have this straight. May is a month. I get that. For Older Americans. Um, what the what?!
