Last week my grandmother called me to inform me that she was sending me an envelope full of recipes for use in the newspaper. I’ve been putting out call outs for recipes here and there for months, to no avail, so I was excited to hear this.

Lac qui Parle in French means “lake which speaks”; in Dakota it means “little talking lake”. The area that now exists as Lac qui Parle State Park was once settled by a Dakota village near the site of Fort Renville, which located in what is now the state park.

Former foreign exchange student and host family reunite after 27 years

When Vladimir Tiuso, of Colombia, made the decision to enter the Foreign Exchange Student program, he likely didn’t anticipate gaining a life-long friendship with a family in Minnesota. However, that’s exactly what happened, as Tiuso, who spent the 1994- 95 school year in rural Montevideo returned last week with his entire family to visit his host family, the Poiers.

Beverly Moen of Montevideo died Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids at the age of 88. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 11 a.m.
