Dumont pounded out 13 hits and capitalized on six Montevideo errors to eliminate the Spartans from the tournament in seven innings.

The Spartans finished the season with a record of 12-13 and were a much-improved team in their second season, according to manager Brandon Raymo.

“For being our second year and still a fairly young ball team, we sure put a nice run together to end the season. It is pretty rare in amateur ball to see a young team do as well as we did. It usually takes four to five years to build a program, but through hard work and dedication from a good group of guys, we have accomplished to build a fairly successful program in two years. Next year we will have one more year under our belt, and we will be even better.”
