Every year the Montevideo band department has a Band Carnival. The carnival is an event for the band program in Montevideo to raise money.
With the money raised, the band can buy new instruments, pay for repairs on instruments, and put on programs/concerts such as the annual Flood of Jazz.
There are a number of events at the Band Carnival each year. This year there will again be games with prizes, a silent auction, a food line, and of course the cake walk, which the Montevideo varsity and concert bands play for.
Many people around the community, including businesses and families, donate money, items, cakes, food, and many more things for the Band Carnival.
The main coordinators this year are Lee Varpness, band director of the middle school bands; Matt Bauer, band director of the high school bands; and Robin Enevoldsen; chairperson.
