Montevideo High School students in grades 8-12 opened the 2016-2017 school year on Monday with an assembly in the gym. The brief program included a video and the introduction of new teachers and foreign exchange students. Senior Carson Hein (right) introduced new faculty members (front, from left) Eric Van Sickle, Adriano Gisela, Pedro Carbo and Jackson Henrich. Each class got to show their school spirit by doing a chant. The seniors were the most vocal, chanting “2017, 2017, we’re the class of 2017!” The 95 members of this year’s senior class also received the traditional honor of sitting in the blue chairs on the gym floor — the same chairs in which they will sit for their commencement exercises on June 4, 2017. Seniors serving as emcees for the assembly, in addition to Hein, were (back, from left) Nicole Feldhake, Kendra Wanke, Kurt TeBeest and Olivia Hagen.
