Dave Kvam combined corn southeast of Montevideo on Monday. Harvesting and tillage have progressed rapidly the past week after being slowed by rain. Sugar beet and soybean harvest is virtually completed except for some pockets in wet spots in fields. The corn harvest is about 75 percent done in this area. Liz Ludwig, Farm Service Agency country executive director for Chippewa and Yellow Medicine counties, said yields are “all over the place.” Farmers that didn’t receive hail damage are getting excellent yields, which is needed to offset prices that are lower than last year.
