At the Montevideo City Council meeting on Monday evening, the council considered granting pay increases for non-union employees and department heads in 2017. City Manager Steve Jones proposed the increase in pay.

 

City staff recommended that  non-union employees would receive a 2.5 percent pay increase beginning on Jan. 1, 2017.

 

After discussion, the council voted to approve the pay increase. Council member Nathan Schmidt abstained from voting on the issue.

 

In  other business, the council considered and approved payment of verified claims in the  amount of $499,044.58.

 

Also approved was a Conditional Use Permit which was granted to Kati Luschen. Luschen wishes to host “pop-up parties” and “pop-in sales” of LolaRue clothing in her home along William Avenue. The council granted the  permit with conditions that need to be met.

 

The council considered two resolutions adjusting state aid routes. The first would remove Merriam Avenue from 3rd Street to 5th Street from the project.

 

The second would add 5th Street from Merriam Avenue to State Road, and add State Road from 5th  Street to 1st Street.
