As a young girl growing up in Montevideo, Uruguay, Ana Pais saw photos of her parents visiting their sister city of Montevideo, Minn. Seeing a Uruguayan television commercial that was filmed here last summer piqued Ana’s interest even more.

Pais recently spent a few days here seeing many of the same sites that her parents, Gabriel and Mariela Pais, did when they were here for Fiesta Days in 1989 as honored representatives of the Uruguayan government.

Ana Pais is a journalist who now works for the BBC (British Broadcasting Company).

After graduating from high school in Montevideo, she attended ORT University, also in Montevideo, majoring in journalism and communications.

In 2011 she started working at El Observador, a large online print newspaper.

In 2014 she attended New York University for three months studying video and film editing.
