The Montevideo City Council again considered a resolution to abate a nuisance at 418 S. 7th St.

The property is owned by William B. McGraw and Shannon Larson, and both were present at Monday’s council meeting to update the council on their attempts to rectify the situation.

McGraw and Larson last appeared before the council at the Sept. 5 meeting where they described their situation and the reasons they need to run a generator on their property.

At Monday’s meeting, Larson spoke to the council about her attempts to contact local electricians to work on getting the power line hooked back up to their home. Larson reported that she has not had any success in securing an electrician to work for them.

Apparently, when Xcel Energy disconnected electrical service from the home, they took everything, including the electric wire that ran from the power pole to the house.

McGraw and Larson also told the council that Xcel Energy is unwilling to work with them to resolve an old bill which  they claim they are not responsible for.

After discussing the matter, the council again tabled the passing of the resolution until the next council meeting on Monday, Oct. 2 in order to give McGraw and Shannon more time to resolve the situation.
