The Chippewa County Historical Society’s Christmas in the Village tradition began in 1978 when then director Mary Anne Bennett took the idea of a Christmas celebration at Pioneer Village and made it a reality.
The annual celebration has had many different themes throughout its 39 year history. There have been German, Swedish, and Icelandic Christmases, to name a few. There have been a few Christmas in the Village celebrations that have honored historic events such as World War I and World War II.
